Since 2008, Song has been an instructor in
patternmaking techniques and draping at the Universität für angewandte Kunst, Wien (University of
Applied Art, Vienna), where he has worked with professors Veronique
Branquinho (2008 - 09) and Bernhard Willhelm (2010 - present).
In addition to his lecture courses, Song's primary area of
responsibility at the University is to consult with the students on the
realization of their collections, in which role he has solved an
innumerable variety of problems of pattern cutting and production.
Since 2011, Song has worked as patternmaker for the brand Tannhauser, an Austrian Children's label.
From the years 2000 - 2007, Song worked as manager of Song,
one of Europe's premier shops, where he assisted in buying and
presenting collections such as Maison Martin Margiela, Balenciaga,
Walter van Beirendonck, Dirk van Seine, Bernhard Willhelm, AF
Vandevorst, Paul Harnden Shoemakers.
From 2004 he has also worked in collaboration with the shop Song on the
in-house fashion label Song By Song.
Born in South Korea, Song originally studied photography and
industrial design in his native country. He then came to Europe to
study fashion design at the Istituto Europeo di Design, Milano (Institute of
Design, Milan), from 1995-1998. Thereafter he spent a number of years
gaining expertise and experience in fashion houses such as Romeo Gilgi,
Costume National, and others.
